Get Involved

Conservation at continental scale starts with individual backyards, classrooms, and Rotary clubs. Here's where to plug in.

At Home

  • Plant native milkweed and season-long nectar plants
  • Avoid pesticides, especially neonicotinoids
  • Add a shallow water source
  • Leave leaf litter and dead stems through winter
  • Certify a Monarch Waystation or pollinator garden

In Your Community

  • Nominate your town for Bee City USA / Bee City Canada
  • Ask parks & roadside departments to reduce mowing frequency
  • Start a native plant swap or seed library
  • Bring a pollinator garden project to a local school
  • Partner with a nearby Rotary club on a habitat project

From Anywhere

  • Report sightings through Journey North or eBird
  • Tag monarchs with Monarch Watch (fall migration season)
  • Log bumble bee photos on Bumble Bee Watch
  • Donate to habitat protection in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve
  • Share the Organizations Directory with someone who gardens or farms

For Rotary Clubs & ESRAG Members

Bring a pollinator project to your club

Rotary clubs across North, Central, and South America are uniquely positioned to support pollinator conservation — combining local service projects with cross-border partnerships in exactly the way the sister sites in our Partner Network already do.

  • Host a native milkweed or agave planting day
  • Sponsor a Monarch Waystation at a school or public park
  • Fund a sister-club partnership supporting reforestation in the Mexican overwintering reserve
  • Invite a local Xerces Society, Pollinator Partnership, or university expert to speak
  • Coordinate with Building Bridges Through Rotary or ESRAG on a binational project
